On 19 September all the Grade 9s in the country will write a mathematics test (the Annual National Assessment, also known as the ANAs). The test is used by the Department of Basic Education to evaluate progress. At OLICO Youth we think that the ANAs provide our learners with an important opportunity to revise all their mathematics work from the year and to get feedback on their progress.
We invited all grade 9 OLICO learners to be part of a Grade 9 ANA revision programme at OLICO’s Diepsloot branch. The learners who chose to be part of the programme have committed to do the following each week:
- Complete a homework sheet with about 10 questions from previous ANA papers on a particular topic during the week at home.
- Attend a 1 hour class on a Friday afternoon at OLICO where we will go over the questions from the homework sheet and deal with any problems that arise
